Although Vedjin Thanks for the replies! Ok, here's what I did originally as best I can remember because I started this marathon a little over a week ago. The system in question had NIS installed for over a year. About 2 weeks ago I finally decided to take advantage of the free upgrade to NIS Upgrade went smooth as silk and NIS works without problems.
Purchased the Basic Edition from the Symantec Store, and downloaded and installed via the link on the invoice page. What I ended up with in WinDoctor is what you see in the post above. Next, I tried re-running the installer in "change" mode, and then removing and re-adding WinDoctor only. In all these cases, the results were the same.
I've even tried running the actual Windoctor application via the Systemworks launcher, and watching them both in Microsoft Sysinternal's Procmon to see if it was reading any problematic registry entries. As it stands right now, I've uninstalled both NSW12 and NIS, and run the removal tool, but haven't re-installed either of them as of yet. I printed it out so I can use it as a check-list. I'll give it a go and report the results. I'm gonna go see if I can get a couple hours sleep first. Been up most of the night working on a non-related work problem I'm a senior programmer at a Hospital Information System Vendor , and don't trust my judgement at the moment.
I'm just getting way too old for this. It's getting harder to remember the days back when I could stay up all night and still go to class all day. I'm not sure I see a problem here. The One Button Checkup is intended to run several items that you would normally need to individually all of the Windoctor scans in a categorized fashion, Norton Cleanup, verify that your virus definitions are up to date, check that Autoprotect is enabled, and ensure that you have run a full system scan recently.
One Button Checkup is also not intended to be configurable from the scan perspective to the same level of detail provided within the product suites individual features. Take a look at the screenshots that leevis uploaded.
