Notice clip is released and remove 6. They will spring from site. NOTE - See speaker wire color codes below for correct speaker phasing. Why purchase the aftermarket wire harness? I'd say spend a few extra bucks and get a better one. Anti skip is really nice feature to have.
Eclipse, Pioneer, and Alpine are really good ones, but also carry a higher price. Having the MP3 capability is also awesome. I've never heard of that AutoSound brand so i'm not to sure the quality.
Getting an aftermarket cd player will also produce better sound. Buying some aftermarket speakers will make the sound a whole lot better. Everyone likes what they like More exspensive, but better sound. Yeah more money almost always means better quality, but the problem is that I'm really short of money and I figure anything would be better than the stock deck so I'm looking for something cheap, my only requirement is that it can play mp3's and that it can provide decent power to the speakers I'll also get new speakers.
Also, these things get stolen around here all the time, so that's another reason I don't want an expensive one. Btw anyone know how many watts the stock deck is capable of it's the deck that plays cd's but no mp3's , and how many watts are the stock speakers in a base model 05 sunfire? When I got my aftermarket cd player for my cavalier, after what seemed like a day, I blew my factory speakers.
It could have blown them right away, I don't know. My guide list this vehicle as in need of the head unit relocation kit as the vehicle is equipped with the Class II databus system. Do not get scared by this, it is simple.
Buy the proper harness, www. This harness plugs into the factory molex up front and then is an extension lead molex to move the factory radio to the rear of the vehicle. The factory head unit is required to maintain the integrity of the Class II databus circuit.
Place the radio on the side of the car in the rear quarter panel on the opposite side of the fuel filler as that side has more room. It will fit behind the factory trunkliner with a small bulge. It should be held into place with some backstrap. Mount the suppled speaker that comes with the GM06 somewhere upfront, add the GM kit and MDA1 antenna adaptor and you are pretty much good to go. If you want the new radio to go on and off with the ignition and not the door, the red wire on the aftermarket cd player must be wired to the pink wire in the main ignition harness where it comes down the steering column.
So all I need model GM06 for the wiring harness, And GM kit and MDA1 antenna adaptor, Then the mounting hardware panel for the aftermarket stereo to attach too, Well guess that sums up my questions. Ouch I got the relocation wiring harness Damn its quite expensive. Ok I am planning to install my stereo this weekend, So as you were saying that old stock stereo has to be mounted in the rear area oppsite side of the gas filler?. I am pretty sure I will have no troubles doing this set up.
I just want to make sure I got all the tips in place. Close Menu. Car Security. Ohm's Law Calculators. Back to Top. Chad7n7 Silver - Posts: Joined: March 09, Location: United States.
You will also need an antenna adapter. All of this can be purchased at your local stereo shop. Ravendarat Platinum - Posts: 2, Joined: February 23, Joined: February 07, Location: Saskatchewan, Canada.
